The inaugural BCTP workshop will be held as a satellite workshop to ICPR 2004 and will take place in Cambridge, in the heart of the UK on the 22nd  of August 2004.

With biometric technology rapidly migrating from theory to practice, new scientific challenges beyond technical implementation arise. While typically, biometric systems have been tested in populations of rather limited size, the fact of deployment of such technologies in populations in multiple magnitudes of size, in real-world environments will lead to additional questions. The intention of this workshop is to elaborate and expand upon these new areas including but not limited to,

• Large population deployment.
• Biometric template exchange.
• Scalability of integrated systems.
• Synergetic combination of biometric devices.
• Real world benchmarking.
• Improvements to user acceptance.
• Aging and biometrics.
• Future biometric applications.
• Biometrics in Human-to-Computer Interfaces (HCI).
